About
Ed is a professional bagpiper with over 30 years of experience. He began learning the pipes at the age of nine, inspired by his Scottish family roots, regular visits to Scotland, and a deep appreciation for Celtic music.Over the years, Ed has played with several pipe bands and was a key member of the Manchester Phoenix Pipe Band until its disbandment after the pandemic. He competed at all the major pipe band championships with Phoenix, regularly winning prizes — including multiple All England Championship titles in Grades 3 and 2. Today, Ed continues to explore the fusion of traditional and modern music as a member of the Celtic rock band Gaelforce.With eight years of experience teaching the bagpipes in the British Army, Ed now offers one-to-one private tuition for learners of all levels.Throughout his piping career, Ed has performed at thousands of events — from weddings, funerals, and parties to military parades, school cultural days, care home visits, Burns Suppers, and Hogmanay celebrations. Notable highlights include performing for Sir Alex Ferguson's 80th birthday and playing at Old Trafford before a Manchester United match against Crystal Palace.

With decades of experience performing at funerals, Ed offers a professional, reliable, and heartfelt service to help provide the perfect final farewell to a loved one.Typical Funeral Performance Requirements for a Bagpiper Include:- Leading the cortege from the family home
Playing as the funeral cars arrive, then leading the cortege down the street as it departs for the service.- Church services
Leading the coffin from the hearse to the church doors and back again at the end of the service. Option to play inside as well.- Performing at crematoriums
Meeting the cortege at the entrance to the crematorium, leading to the chapel, playing as the coffin is taken in, and performing outside after the service.- Playing at graveside burials
Playing as the coffin is carried and lowered. Finishing with several tunes while walking away as mourners say their goodbyes.
